Hello, Movie Buffs!
Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) is one of the best action-spy films of 2015 and is one of the best in the franchise as each installment in the series gets better and better. Director and writer Christopher McQuarrie (Mission Impossible - Fallout) has created a superb film that contains suspense, mystery, drama, high-tech gadgets, action, and much more. It is quite obvious that most of the time the good guys win but in this film, nothing is certain as the majority lies with the bad guys. The story enough plot twist to entertain and make all the previous MI look like a walk in the park but luckily there is enough comedy to cut through the foreboding. The music score (Joe KramerJack Reacher) plays with subtle bursts of the theme song, while most of the action and stunts contained almost zero CGI. Although most spy films have a fast pace this one also slows down during some moments that allow for some intelligent character development.

The cast was great. Tom Cruise is at his best and despite being 53 at the time of the film’s release he chose to still do all of his own stunts. He is a great actor and as always proves that almost nothing is impossible for him. The rest of the cast is also great in their respective roles. Rebecca Ferguson (Greatest Showman & MI: Fallout) is a stunningly strong companion for Ethan and in a film that has a shortage of main female characters she manages to stand out among the boys. Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner are great in adding comic relief as well as adding in a few plot twists we might not have seen coming. Sean Harris (Macbeth) plays the villain, Lane, and he gives a chilling performance that is unlike any we have seen before, not even Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman) from MI 3 comes close. Every action and line will leave you on the edge of your seat and the best part is that we have no idea exactly how far he is willing to go to achieve his goal. Unfortunately, Alec Baldwin got stuck with some corny lines but in his defense, his character only ever scratched the surface. Hopefully, in Fallout, we will get to see more character development from him.

Overall, Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) is one of the best additions in the franchise and I cannot wait to see how Fallout will try to top it. The cast, story, action, suspense, etc. continue to expand with each new film. The story works from start to finish with a great balance between explosive espionage and character development. If you hesitated in watching this film for one reason or another then forget your worries because this is one of my favorite MI films and I highly recommend it.
