Hello, Movie Buffs!
10 years ago an alien race invaded Earth and since then the humans must adhere to a strict set of rules and their new overlords, the Legislators. In rundown Chicago, Gabriel Drummond (Ashton Sanders) joins the resistance, to ignite a war against the Roaches (Legislators). However, he soon finds himself under the careful scrutiny of police officer Bill Mulligan (John Goodman) who wants to crush the resistance’s plans for freedom and keep the “peace” going between the alien and human race. But Earth is anything but a peaceful place. Will the resistance succeed in their plans for freedom? Or will the Legislators’ succeed in crushing their resistance to the core? Directed by Rupert Wyatt (The Gambler) and co-written by Erica Beeney (The Battle of Shaker Heights), Captive State (2019) is an entertaining and surprisingly thought-provoking alien invasion docu-drama.

Hello, Movie Buffs!
Directed by David Blair (The Messenger) and written by Robert Ryan and Alastair Galbraith, Mission of Honor (2018) follows the true story of Hurricane Squadron 303 during World War 2. In 1940 England stands alone against the growing stain of the oppressive Nazi empire that is quickly spreading throughout Europe. Many of England’s inhabitants are nervous about what the future may bring, but a handful of brave individuals know too well what future they face should England fall. They witnessed Warsaw burning, Poland crumbling, and France surrendering. They are Hurricane Squadron 303, a group of daring and brave pilots from the Polish Air Force. However, the British don’t trust them have given them and as such are given almost-obsolete planes and RAF. Regardless, once they were made operational, they quickly proved what they could do, out-gunning their enemy and out-scoring their allies. They fought to keep England free from the Nazis. They fought to keep the memory of their young country alive; a country whose modern form only existed for 20 years before being invaded. They fought because they knew that if the Luftwaffe isn’t stopped then France, Poland, and Holland would become Hitler's hors d'oeuvres. But not everyone will make it to the end and not all friendships will survive but perhaps new ones will form.

Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (The Final Girls) and written by Erin Cardillo (Life Sentence), Dana Fox (How to be Single), and Katie Silberman (Hot Pursuit, How to be Single), Isn’t It Romantic (2019) is the latest rom-com that is sure to entertain audiences alike. The film follows Natalie (Rebel Wilson), an Australian architect living a less than magical life in New York. Her best friends Josh (Adam DeVine) and Whitney (Betty Gilpin) try to encourage her to stand up for herself and embrace love but it doesn’t help that Natalie is a skeptic concerning love and is quick to go on a detailed rant about the cons of romantic comedies, which foreshadows the rest of the film. However, after a freak subway accident, Natalie wakes up only to find herself trapped in a PG-13 rom-com world with all the typical clichés and stereotypes. Choosing to play along she changes her wardrobe, brightens her attitude, and hooks up with the seemingly “perfect guy,” all while discovering the merits of believing in oneself. Will she discover that the perfect guy has been with her all along? Or will she simply go back to be the same person? Who is it that she really needs to fall in love with?
