God's Not Dead 3 (2018) --- "For Too Long The Church Has Been Known For What It’s Against, Rather Than What It’s For."

Plot Summary
The Rev. Dave Hill faces an unexpected setback when his beloved church burns down -- prompting the officials at the adjoining university to try and kick his congregation off campus. Battle lines are quickly drawn between the church and the community as the reverend now finds himself at odds with his longtime friend -- the president of the school. Facing a legal battle, Hill soon seeks help from his estranged brother -- a big-city lawyer and atheist -- in a fight to help rebuild the church. (1)

Hello, Movie Buffs!
First time writer & director Michael Mason and co-writer Howard Klausner (Space Cowboys; The Grace Card) take over from the previous filmmakers to helm God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness (2018) and it starts off right where the last one ended.

This is the third film in the God's Not Dead franchise and it, where each film’s main goal is to prove the existence of God. The 2014 film proves it academically, while the 2016 film proves it in the courtroom with a more involved story, but God’s Not Dead 3 takes a different path. Rather than prove the existence of God, they show how he lives in the lives of his followers, and by doing so Mason is able to focus on a more developed and dramatic story that can relate to a broader audience.
This was a realistic portrayal of a Christian pastor’s struggle with understanding why a tragedy happened to him and how to move on afterward. The story reminds audiences that as Christians we have show love and compassion to people even when we feel like we’ve been wronged. The story also does not back away from asking important questions, like: Where is God when tragedy happens? How do we treat those who’ve wronged us? And while answers may not be easy to hear it is the truth, God is always good, even when life isn’t and even then he never leaves us.
The dialogue is well-written and the acting is excellent.  The performances of David A. R. White as Reverend David Hill and John Corbett (To All The Boys I’ve Loved) as his lawyer brother Pierce Hill are great and they're dynamic as brothers are great to see as well. The supporting cast is good but they’re performances didn’t carry as much they did in the previous film.

Overall, God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness (2018) great film with a more developed storyline. It asks difficult questions and presents a wide-ranging message about the importance of listening over talking, unity over division, love over hate, and forgiveness over anger. The dialogue is well-written and the acting is excellent with notable performances from David A. R. White and John Corbett. This is a great family and a must-see for Christians. I highly recommend it.
