Hello, Movie Buffs!
Transformers (2007) is not the BEST movie of ALL TIME but is one of the best visual achievements of 2007.  It is ridiculous that some audiences and critics are complaining about how Michael Bay (Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, the Island) went "over the top" with the visual effects. This is a Michael Bay film, of course, the visual effect is going to be over the top, that’s the point. Transformers is not meant to be an epic drama like The Godfather but rather it is like Star Wars. Of course, Transformers is not on the Star Wars level because of the script which had some very corny lines that did not exactly fit in with the action moments. Aside from the script, this film has a lot of dimensions and the characters are actually far more complex than first realized, this is due to the mesmerizing action sequences.
Shia LaBeouf’s (Holes, Eagle Eye, Fury) portrayal of an awkward teenage boy from start to finish was wonderful, his first scene was a bit perplexing in terms of his character's intentions but very understandable. In one of his final scenes, when he's facing the enemy he seemed very genuinely scared and yet steadfast in his desire to do the right thing. In terms of the robots, if it is possible to give a robot humanity then Michael Bay has done it. One of my favorites is the Autobot Bumblebee (Mark Ryan – Return to Sender), his humor is as clever as it is heartwarming and emotional. The other characters are great, even Megatron (Hugo WeavingLord of the Rings, V for Vendetta). I had no idea Weaving played the voice of the creepy, cunning, and evil Decepticon Megatron but he did an absolutely wonderful job at it.
Overall, Transformers is a great movie and has something for everyone. For the "old school" fans of the series, you will not be disappointed because Michael Bay does not let us down. For fans of games like Call of Duty or Tom Clancy's then you’ll really be able to appreciate the weapons used in the film; by both the humans and the robots. Transformers (2007) may not be the best in the series but it is still enjoyable and entertaining to watch.

“Fifty years from now, when you're looking back at your life, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car?”
- Sam Witwicky
