Hello, Movie Buffs!
After the death of the British Prime Minister, 40 of the world’s most powerful leaders gather in London to pay their respects. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a devastating attack that kills most of the world leaders and plunges the city into complete chaos. Now on foot and with no one they can trust, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) springs into action to bring U.S. President, Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart), to safety. Can Banning save his commander in chief from a terrible fate once again? Or are they far outnumbered?
Directed by Baback Najafi (Proud Mary) and written by Creighton Rothenberger (Angel Has Fallen) and Katrin Benedikt (Angel Has Fallen), London Has Fallen (2016) is the exciting sequel to the 2013 action thriller Olympus Has Fallen. This was one of Baback Najafi’s first films to direct and it is hands down one of the most thrilling films of 2016. The story is well laid out and starts off by establishing the reasoning behind the London attack, and the pace is perfect for the film. After the initial start, things start to move along pretty quickly with some tongue-in-cheek humor displayed throughout. The action is very well done and has clearly been taken up a notch since the 2013 film. There is an outstanding helicopter sequence as well as some pretty impressive fight scenes that are both brisk and fresh for the eyes.
The cast performances are solid throughout. Gerard Butler (Angel Has Fallen) is one of my all-time favorite actors and here he delivers an incredibly intense performance that tops the last film. In the action sequences, he is believable and during the none-action sequences, he is convincing in his determination to get the president to safety at all cost. Aaron Eckhart (Midway) delivers more in his performance as President Asher, Angela Bassett (9-1-1) may not have been given a lot of screen time in this film but she leaves a lasting impression, and Morgan Freeman (Angel Has Fallen) is simply Morgan Freeman. The rest of the cast - Charlotte Riley, Melissa Leo, Robert Forster, Radha Mitchell, Waleed Zauiter, Jackie Earle Haley, Robert Forster, Penny Downie, Patrick Kennedy, Kemi-Bo Jacobs, and Melissa Galloway - are also great in their respective roles.
Overall, London Has Fallen (2019) is an action-packed, exciting, and moving film that will keep audiences entertained until the very end. Everything about the story, action, drama, and even the cast performances has been taken to a whole other level. If you enjoyed the last film then I recommend that you check out this one because you will certainly enjoy it.

Final Vote --- 7.8 of 10 stars
