Hello, Movie Buffs!
After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) set in motion by Thanos, the universe is in ruins and the Avengers are left fractured. When an opportunity arises, the remaining Avengers assemble once more to try to undo Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) actions and restore order to the universe. Join Marvel studios as they make one final stand in an epic grand conclusion that is the most anticipated film of the year, Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Beginning in 2008 with Iron Man and spanning 22 unique films that have culminated countless heroes and loyal fans along the way, the Infinity Saga is an unprecedented series unlike any before and it will probably be decades before a series like this is ever attempted again. Not even Marvel’s main rival, DC has even come close to something like this, which goes to show the phenomenal creativity of Stan Lee and the kind of talent needed to bring his stories to life.
While Infinity War felt like every storyline was colliding and perhaps not everyone was given adequate screen time, the audiences were not prepared to be left hanging on one of the biggest cliffhangers ever. Since then Marvel studios and the Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony) have done an incredible job in keeping the trailers spoiler free. The trailers do not prepare you for this film at all, in fact, the only thing you can take away from them is that the remaining Avengers believe to have found a hail mary to save the universe and decided to take it. Aside from knowing that much, you're pretty much going into this film blind which made Endgame incredible. Without spoiling anything I will say this, Endgame is the conclusion we have been waiting for filled with passion, drama, laughs, and when we thought we saw it all a few twists were thrown in for good measure that pays homage to an 11-year journey.
In addition, the cast performances were incredible. Each character plays an important role that compliments each other well and in no way outshine or overshadows anyone, not even Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Now could did some characters deserve just a little more screen time? Sure. But considering how many characters this film has to juggle, I have to say that the filmmakers did so admirably.
Overall, Avengers: Endgame (2019) is an epic and grand conclusion to an 11-year journey filled with passion, drama, laughs, tears, and even a few unexpected twists that leave you shocked. The trailers in no way prepare you for Endgame and yet that makes it all the more epic. I will say that there are a lot of easter eggs from the previous films throughout this one so keep an eye out for them, and the ensemble cast was utilized in a phenomenal way. Endgame is the closing of a chapter and the beginning of a new, it’s time for the vets to retire and the newcomers to continue moving things forward. As such, there is no end-credit scene to be found Endgame. Not only do I recommend that you see this film, but if you have the chance to do so in IMAX then it will be totally worth it.
